Founded by owner Peter Unkelbach in 2014, it started small with Colonia Aktiv and 50 bikes. In the meantime, not only the bike fleet has grown to over 100 city bikes, trekking bikes, e-bikes and tandems, but also the team: Colonia Aktiv consists of 5 permanent employees who welcome you in the store and a large pool of freelancers who guide you expertly and safely through Cologne’s streets and have the task of preparing an unforgettable day for you.<\/p>\n Peter Unkelbach<\/strong><\/p>\n I grew up in Cologne and was thrilled even as a child when my family went shopping or to cultural events in the cathedral city. The large cathedral, the many stores and the colorful carnival have always fascinated me. Since my diploma thesis on the history of Cologne as a fortress city, I have been intensively engaged in the subject of Cologne’s historical geography. I have been leading guided bike tours through Cologne since 2011, first as a student job and since 2012 under the logo Colonia Aktiv. The guided tours give me the opportunity to share my knowledge about the origins of the Rhine metropolis and combine it with a communicative sporting activity in nature.
