Getting to know Bonn!
We start our bike tour through Bonn at the so-called “China Ship”, a floating restaurant anchored on the banks of the Rhine in Beuel. Heading south, we cycle along the Rhine and enjoy the wonderful view of Bonn’s skyline, and Bonn’s tallest building, the Post Tower, which towers over even Cologne Cathedral!
Once on the left bank of the Rhine, the route leads through the Rheinaue, the former site of the Federal Garden Show, and through the government district. Federal Chancellery, -bungalow, and -büdchen are lined up here and your guide will explain you a lot of interesting facts about the political Bonn and about how Bonn became the capital after the Second World War!
You will make your way to the city center and explore the traces of the Romans, Franks, Electors, Bishops, French and Prussians. And of course, Adenauer and Beethoven must not be missing on your bike tour through Bonn! If you have planned your bike tour in spring, a short detour to Heerstraße and Breite Straße for the famous cherry blossom is also on the program.
With a detour along the famous Poppelsdorfer Allee, the former boulevard of Bonn, where today parts of the university are located, we reach the core of the city with Münsterplatz, City Hall, Hofgarten and the Electoral Palace.
On your bike tour there is also enough time for refreshment with a view of the Rhine, for example in the beer garden “zum Blauen Affen” or “am Alten Zoll” – you have the choice!
